At Cedar you’ll find a nurturing and trauma-focused environment, holistic/developmental approach, highly structured academic programming, psychiatric and medication management, and high recreation emphasis.

Meet the Cedar Valley Leadership Team

James Carling, Home Supervisor

James was born and raised in Salt Lake City, UT and spent many years in northern Utah. He has lived in Cedar City for several years and love calling southern Utah "home." In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities, sports, traveling, cooking and spending time with his wife, kids, family and friends. His experience working with youth is extensive and includes his professional background in leadership over skilled nursing facilities, assisted living homes, a substance abuse recovery clinic, surgical and dialysis clinics. His education includes a dual Master's degree in Healthcare and Public administration from the University of Utah, which he received in 2012 and a Bachelor's degree in Urban planning in 2009. James is excited to be a part of the Cedar City team and making a positive change in the lives of the boys that we serve!

About Cedar Valley RTC

Who We Serve

Cedar Valley Ranch is a cognitive behavioral, offense-specific residential treatment home that serves male adolescent youths 16-18 years of age who present as moderate risk as assessed by nationally-recognized risk-assessment tools.

Advanced-Level Programming

Youth admitted to Cedar RTC have significant abusive-behavior patterns that require long-term treatment intervention. The length of stay is twelve to eighteen months, with six to twelve months of follow-up aftercare services. Due to our experience and advanced level of programming, Cedar RTC is generally able to graduate a youth from the program in twelve months.
